Row 250Sometimes I get all muddled up by all the things I think I have to think about before starting something.
Sometimes I get all bogged down in too MUCH thinking, period.
I can think of really simple things. Like going out to swim in the ocean and prolonging the time before I dive into the cold water, thinking about how cold it’s going to be, how much I’m not going to like that – all really USELESS thoughts, not at all in service to what I am there for.
I can think of more important things like making business decisions, trying to imagine all the outcomes so I can make the BEST possible choice. Can you imaging how long THAT could take? I’d never decide anything!
Sometimes it’s as simple as 3-2-1…GO!
Thoughts, beliefs, habits — all of these can get in the way of actually DOING something. Thoughts are good — sometimes, beliefs are important — sometimes, and habits can work wonders — sometimes. But the end of the day, results come from DOING, not thinking.
You know the difference. You know when it’s time to think and when it’s time to go. Next time you can’t get yourself started, try it! Say out loud “3-2-1…GO!” and throw yourself forward into the great unknown! The water’s never as cold as I think anyway.
