Hometown:  Los Angeles (La Crescenta)
Age: 26
Occupation: Exec Assistant, Assistant Property Manager
When did you first start CrossFitting?: Month of February 2012 in NorCal, pause till graduation, started again in June 2012 and never stopped.
When did you first start training at CFLA?: June 24, 2015
Favorite WOD: Now that I’ve gotten better at double unders, I love Annie. Cindy isn’t too bad either.
Least Favorite WOD: KAREN. That bitch.

Tell us about you sports & fitness background:  Started as a toddler in ballet, then turned to cheer in high school (so really, I’ve been lifting since I was 14 😛 )

How did you first get exposed to CrossFit? Take us back to your first WOD… what was it, and how did it feel?Senior year of college, my boyfriend at the time had broken up with me and I needed to release all that negative energy. So, I came back home for Christmas break and wanted to kick start my fitness. I started taking this Foxy Flirty Kickboxing class in Hollywood (LOL I know….) and I loved the actual kickboxing portion of the workout. I looked for a place near my school, and I found an actual kickboxing gym called Crazy Monkey Kickboxing & CrossFit Rohnert Park. I gave the guy a call, and he told me to come in.  The coach then added me on Facebook, and sent me a CrossFit promo….I thought to myself, this isn’t kickboxing…but I showed up anyway. Sure enough, I showed up to a CrossFit class. Luckily, there was a woman coach there who showed me how to use a barbell and taught me just how strong women really are if we can just get over the idea of heavy weight. Just pick up the bar! I was already amazed at myself for picking up 55lbs. The WOD was a partner AMRAP with power cleans and push ups. I had never experienced that kind of adrenaline and I definitely did not expect to be strong enough to finish that workout. From that moment on, I was hooked and I knew that I was in this for life.

What sort of changes have you seen in your body, health and fitness since starting CF (before/after)? My weight has stayed pretty much the same, but I could tell that I have a lot more definition in my arms, back, and glutes. I feel stronger and happier.

What sort of changes in your life have you experienced out of taking on something like CrossFit that were totally unexpected? I stopped really focusing on what the scale says and paid more attention to what I looked like, how I felt, and how much more weight I could lift. Being stronger physically gives me the confidence to feel stronger emotionally.  It has completely shaped me into the strong, young woman I am today.

Please share with us any favorite CrossFit / CFLA moments:  My favorite CrossFit moments were The Open and any time any of you have been an ear for me this year. My living situation was hell, and this box has been my safe house, and I really really appreciate that more than most of you know.

Any advice for people just getting started?  Just try it and don’t scared! Everyone starts from the bottom. These coaches are trained to give you proper instruction and help you learn the endless possibilities that your body is capable of – possibilities that you might have never thought you could accomplish.

What are your hobbies, interests and/or talents outside of CrossFit? Honestly, I don’t think I have any, haha. I go to festivals, concerts, shows, visit friends in other places. But day to day spare time, CrossFit = life.
