… and coming Monday (NO CAP)
In 20 minutes:
Deadlift 3-3-3
– work up to three heavy sets
9 Push Ups
9 Hollow RocksI was watching people during yesterday’s WOD – you know the 40 minute ROW FROM HELL… I saw everything from complete focused concentration and intensity to the total absence of concentration and focus (even talking during “on” time). Have you ever considered that how you show up for your training makes all the difference? People tend to be obsessed with the “what”. I hear the question all the time – “What’s the workout today.” It’s not that there is anything wrong with that question. But if you let yourself stop there, you’re really missing it. If you were to show up to CFLA every day for a year having absolutely no idea, ever, what the workout was, but you set an intention every day around HOW you were going to show up for your workout that day, I guarantee you’d get spectacular results. At some point, workouts are much more about the habit and discipline of just doing them… like the Zen proverb “Before enlightenment; chop wood, carry water. After enlightenment; chop wood, carry water.” And if you’re just showing up and training, the only difference from one day to another that really matters is how you are showing up… what you are bringing to your workout.

Ever seen an Olympian train? How about the athletes on CFLA’s Elite Team (2:30-4pm training daily). Focused. Present. Intense. Intentional. Every – Single – Time.

How are you chopping wood and carrying water? How does an Olympian training for the Olympics chop wood and carry water?
