Fitness as a Destination

Fitness as a Destination

One of the things I love about the CrossFit Games is it’s ability to bring the world of CrossFit together for a week in one place. Whether people come for the sport of fitness, the spectacle of the event, the latest and greatest new CrossFit gear, there is literally something for everyone.

I took the time over the Games last week to re-connect with many of the people that I’ve formed relationships with over the past 10 years. I also met some new and really awesome people who were up to some pretty amazing things.

One of those people is Vidal Lazo from CrossFit Kingdom. I know that there are plenty more like Vidal in the CrossFit world, he’s just one of the people that I happen to meet this past week. He’s been part of the CrossFit movement since 2008, on the other side of the world… well, almost… in Miami, FL. The thing that struck me when I first met Vidal is his unbridled enthusiasm and zest for life… like nothing could ever stop him. He’s one of those people you just want to be around. And when he told me about the functional fitness travel destination trip that he’s created, I knew it was something I wanted to share with all of you.

The event I’m talking about is a cruise – a functional fitness cruise. It’s a 4-day, 3-night cruise, and what makes it special and different is that as part of the trip, it includes up to 9 workouts (yes, they’re timed and you can compete if you want to), as well as seminars, and speakers if you’re more inclined to drink, relax and just soak up the sun and learning.

He’s got one coming up the end of this month in Miami… but a better target for those of us in SoCal… is the one next summer that goes from Long Beach to Mexico via Catalina. If you want to know or learn more about it click here.

I realize that this sounds like an advertisement for Vidal and his FitLife Cruise… but my intention more was to share about one of the many awesome people doing one of the many awesome things in this ever expanding CrossFit inspired world.

I was also thinking, that if there were enough interest in our local CFLA community, the cruise next summer (August 7-10) would be a super fun, super accessible and relatively inexpensive trip for us to all get away and have a great time together.

Consider this “planting the seed”… lets hear what you think in comments.
