Complete as many rounds as possible in 10 minutes of:
6 DB Press right (35/25)
6 DB Press left
6 Weighted situps (same dumbbell)
6 Pistols Have you ever thought, even for a second, about the way you look during a workout (the faces you make)? Or how about the place you finish in comparison to everyone else? Those thoughts have definitely gone through my head, but I don’t let them stop me from training. Unfortunately, many people do, and it keeps them from showing up as frequently, and from going at an all-out intensity. Imagine that, people would rather look good, than show up. I wonder when the ego gets big enough that it decides it would rather prevent you from ’embarrassing’ yourself by keeping you away than letting you go out and ‘make a fool’ of yourself? It must be way after the age of 4 1/2, because as you can see in the photo below, it’s not present in the slightest for them!
But here’s the other part to this insecurity thing that most people never stop to consider… if the other people in your class are going as intensely as you, they don’t have time to look at you, or, if they do, they don’t have the energy to really care about what they see. And they certainly don’t care about how you’re doing, or finishing, time wise, in your workout. EVERYONE has, on the other hand, the seemingly universal CrossFit desire to cheer you on.
So if you’re not coming in because you’re worried about looking good or performing well… do yourself a favor and just show up. No one notices, and no one really cares. We’re all in this thing called life together – that includes the good, the bad and the ugly. Come on, lets get ugly together!
