My farmers market agenda

As I strolled through the farmers market this morning I had a couple items that I wanted to buy. Persimmons being number one and something green being the other. The variety of beauty at the Santa Monica farmers market is just wonderful.  The colors, scents and mix of people and produce is truly a pleasure. I was able to arrive just as they opened, which is a treat in itself.  This allows me the opportunity for the best choices and it’s not crazy busy.

Years ago I used to visit the farmers market weekly.  I had a little game I played with myself which I tried to find something new or something I hadn’t tried in a LONG time. Today, I brought that game back. I got a few fruits including jujubes (1st time purchase) and perused for something that caught my eye. I made the choice of watermelon radishes, which you can see above, mixed with colorful carrots.

If you’ve never tried one I highly recommend them. They are spicy like the other radishes and just a thing of pure beauty.I think I might make a salad with arugula, nuts and possibly a goat cheese or add in something sweet! I would love to hear what you make with your watermelon radishes.
