Feeling Fortunate…

I am currently sitting at my parents kitchen table in Garden City, New York, where I just enjoyed some dinner with my Mom and Dad.  I flew back to the east coast to attend the wedding of a good friend out on the east end of Long Island, in a little surfing and fishing village called Montauk. 

While at the wedding, I stated to several friends how fortunate I felt to be able to come home, and to have the large group of loyal friends that I call my crew.  It was a beautiful weekend, with perfect fall weather, the beach nearby, and the feeling of love in the air.  I couldn’t have asked for a better weekend.

I then drove to my folks’ place yesterday, and enjoyed the company of two of my sisters, their children, and a BBQ.  Once again, I was feeling fortunate that I was surrounded by such a strongly knit and loving family, one that will always be supportive of me and my adventures.

I am spending the next week in the northeast, seeing more friends and more family, former colleagues, and will even get a chance to visit the 9/11 Memorial in NYC, which I’m sure will bring up a variety of emotions.  The visit to the memorial will once again be a reminder to me that I truly have it all; family, friends, good health, shelter, and food.  It will remind me that there are individuals that serve to protect our wonderful country, so that we can live with fearless freedom. 

Whenever you start to get down about your life, stop for a second, and each day you wake up, state one thing you are grateful for, and you’ll soon realize just how fortunate and how abundant your life truly is and will become!
