Pull-upsAre you up for having FUN around achieving your goals in relation to your body, health, fitness, and lifestyle? Do you think you might be more effective (and accountable) in doing it if you were playing a fun game with a big spinning dial, daily points and badges, along with others in an online social group? If either of these answers is “yes”, then check out a new website called Health Month.
Created by Buster Benson (who also created the popular creative writers site – 750words) “takes the SCIENCE of nutrition and behavior change and combines it with the SOCIAL GAMES of the recent social web to help people improve their health habits in a fun and sustainable way.”
When I signed up to play my game for the month of November (which I just started yesterday), the process was extremely thorough (including all sorts of nutrition and health-related choices as well as daily lifestyle habits). But watch out, it’s easy to choose WAY too many things to focus on in one month if you’re not careful). I settled on 3 rules for my game – 1. write 3 pages in a private journal every day, 2. read a book for 30 minutes at least 3 days each week, and 3. get to bed before 10pm at least 5 days each week.
It’s been one day… and so far I’m 2 for 3 (didn’t get to bed before 10pm)… and I have 55 points after ‘spinning the dial’. Sound like fun? It is. Check it out!
