Today’s Workout

Deadlift – 5-5-5+
Wendler Cycle 3, Week 1
(65%, 75%, 85% of 1RM)

5 Rounds for time of:
5 Front Squats (115/75)
5 Push PressI caught myself over the weekend. I was thinking, “Eeh, it’s the holiday’s, go ahead… relax… have another glass of wine… enjoy desert.” And I must say, having those thoughts was easy… and nice… especially when I listened and complied with that voice. The hard part was realizing that I had succumbed to the slipperiest and steepest slopes of the year… the time between Thanksgiving and New Years. Its so easy to dig yourself into a significant hole over the next 4 weeks, one that’s much harder to dig out from than to stay out of to begin with.

If you find yourself tempted by all the social occasions to eat, drink and be merry, you might find it helpful to determine the “rules” of your game… then get committed to them… and accountable. For example… one of your rules could be… “I’m allowed 1 beer/glass of wine at any holiday gathering. If I have more than that, on any occasion, I will pay $100 to my best friend.” For this to work, your best friend has to be in on the game and willing to take your cash or cash your check. This might be just the sort of mental leverage you need to keep you on track.
