Is anything really as it seems?
You know that organic apple you’re eating… is it really organic? Really? Says who? What about the levels of DHA & EPA in that fish oil supplement you’re taking? Or what about the grass fed beef you ate last week – was it really fed grass? I was reading Slippery Business, an article from the New Yorker about the Olive Oil business and it brought up these questions for me. The only way to really know is to live on a self-sustaining farm where everything you eat, you’ve raised from seed – as Michael Pollan describes in part two of The Omnivore’s Dilemma. Short of that, at some point, you’ve just got to trust that what they’re selling you is what they say it is – or at least that’s what I keep telling myself. Thoughts?
