Last Goodbye

Saturday it begins. My 8th Whole Life Challenge. Kind of Crazy when I think about it.  After all these years, still rollin’.

And as traditions demands, during waning days as the Challenge draws near, it comes time to say goodbye to old favorites for a while, in the most intimate way possible. By eating them.

One of the old timers that will never die is the Empire State pizza from NY&C Pizza in Santa Monica. I don’t even have to have eaten one in the last year to know I’ll miss it for the next 8 weeks. Enough, perhaps, to pay it one final visit.

But this night, I indulged in an age old fundamental Southern California pleasure. The Double Double. Animal Style. With fries, well done. Well done indeed.

So join me for a moment. Sit, and share your greatest pleasures. What might you bid a bittersweet farewell to? Whose tasty caress would you miss on those dark, hungry nights? Whether you’re taking the Challenge or not, you’re always welcome by this melancholy fire of remembrance.
