Listen Up – bring in YOUR music!

Music. Such a large part of our lives, with the power to touch, move and inspire us, even in moments of hardship and difficulty. I had one of those moments on Saturday… In getting started in my Marathon training, I purchased an iPod Nano, thinking that it would be nice to listen to tunes on some of my longer training runs. I went out for my first “long” run on Saturday – 9 miles. After putting some of my favorite music on my new Nano, I set out, and from the very first moment of the first tune, I felt like I was running on air… The music honestly transformed that run for me… it was amazingly fun, easy, light, motivating and inspiring. I loved it – right through to the end, in a way that I wouldn’t have without the music. Have you ever had a similar experience?

We’re going to try an experiment at the gym. If you’d like to listen to your own music in class, consider this your invitation. Create a playlist, and bring in your iPod. Remember that the length of time that your playlist stays on will be up to the collective patience of your peers in class. I’m thinking that anything too extreme won’t last too long, but what you include is up to you. Have fun with it – let’s hear your creations!

15 Squats
