Today’s Workout

For Time:
20-18-16-14-12-10-8-6-4-2 Push Ups
1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8-9-10 L Pull-ups

– first round is 20 push ups and 1 L pull-up; round 2 is 18 push ups and 2 L pull-ups, etc.Have you ever had a breakthrough performance… a time where you performed something so much better, faster, or more effortlessly than you had ever even dreamed was possible? A time when the stars aligned, the heavens parted, and you were simply in the groove, pure flow? Flow – a good word to describe this state… defined by Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi (author of Flow) as the state in which people are so involved in an activity that nothing else seems to matter; the experience itself is so enjoyable that people will do it even at great cost, for the sheer sake of doing it. When it happens, and you are either experiencing it, or watching someone else experience it, it is magical, exciting, and inspiring. It gives me goose pimples and sometimes brings tears to my eyes.

I recently had this experience watching the video below of the end of a 10k running race. What made it even better for me was the fact that it was so unexpected… I mean who gets this feeling watching someone run? Try watching it for yourself for a little weekend inspiration… here’s the setup: It is the last 3 minutes of the race… and you’re watching a guy who is a 5k runner, and has never competed at the 10k distance before.
