Replacing “Can’t” with “Won’t”

Complete as many rounds and reps as possible in 10 minutes of:
30 Double-unders
15 Power snatches (75/55)Wanna make yourself really uncomfortable? The next time you hear yourself saying that you “can’t” do something… try replacing it with “won’t”. I can’t lose weight becomes I won’t lose weight. I can’t be on time becomes I won’t be on time. I can’t do well on running WODs becomes I won’t do well on running WODs.

Ouch… when you put things that way it stings a bit… it should… that’s the idea. You see, “can’t” is a much easier word to use… it eliminates all elements of personal responsibility. Who is responsible when you can’t do something? Certainly not you! The beauty of inserting “won’t” in it’s place is that it puts all of the personal responsibility back into the equation. “Can’t” – I’m not capable and no one is responsible… “Won’t” – I am capable, but I choose not to… and I am responsible. Here’s the other part that makes “won’t” so awesome… it puts the ball back in your court, acknowledging you are capable, and giving you the power to do something about it.

Try it on… I’ll betcha though uncomfortable, you’ll be more empowered “won’ting” than “can’ting.”
