Handstand Push upsYesterday was my first day back at the gym since the beginning of break. And after 10 days of being gone, really gone, the experience I had was really awesome… and quite unexpected. There was an amazing freshness, lightness and fun in the air. I didn’t see anyone I didn’t already know, and yet everyone I did see seemed new, almost different to me… smiles were on everyone’s faces and it was REALLY good to see everyone for the first time this year.
So what’s the take-away? It reminds me of the importance of regeneration, recuperation, rest and recovery… whether it’s physical, mental, emotional or spiritual. Being “gone” doesn’t necessarily mean being on vacation somewhere – sometimes that is as stressful as being at work, often requiring a vacation post vacation. We spent the entire 10 days right here at home. I even got together with some of the coaches over vacation and spent some time doing what I would consider “work.” But it was just enough of a break to bring me back rested, refreshed and really excited about starting this New Year with a bang!
