What Are You Selling? By Benet Heames

Daniel Pink is the author of “To Sell is Human: The Surprising Truth About Moving Others”, which I have read a few times being that I fall into the traditional salesperson category. If you don’t consider yourself a salesperson, you should check out this book. The role of sales has evolved rapidly and he argues that we are all in sales now!

According to Pink, 1 in 9 Americans are in the traditional sales role, but the other 8 are in what he considers to be non-sales selling. While you may not be selling an object, you are pitching your ideas, techniques, and persuading others with your pitch in real life and on social media.

Whether or not you consider yourself a “salesperson,” consider the times you are trying to motivate others to take action or have an emotion. What action are you pushing them towards? Who are you most commonly trying to influence?

Finally, I am sure you get asked by your friends/family/co-workers about why you do CrossFit here at CFLA. What do you tell them? What would be your…pitch?
