Today’s workout is a benchmark workout. The idea today is that you figure out just how much weight you are able to power clean and front squat. Why is this important? Two things: 1. Strength is important in general because it forms a foundation for your athletic fitness and enables you to do things in life that otherwise would be impossible. We work on it regularly – through the major lifts – deadlift, back squat, front squat, press, and power clean. 2. Benchmarks are important because they mark a point in time – they give you a chance to “take a snapshot” of where you are today and give you an idea of how much you’ve improved 12 weeks from now when we repeat this test.
