Supporting others, I’ve learned over the years, is an integral part of my own effort to be the best I can be. Genuinely rooting for, lending a hand, showing up for others in a way that is authentically unconditional has been as fulfilling as anything I do for myself directly. Supporting all of your greatness opens up the flood gates for me. You inspire me. When you guys show up to support me as I’m giving my all at something, I want to do better, I want to be better.

I feel like I’m part of something that is not just bigger than myself, but that I’m part of something really special.

Recent examples: Some of us drove to San Diego to cheer on the final hour of the brave SealFit participants. Many of you showed up for the athletes competing at Femme Royale – drove an hour to do so! A great crowd came out for the First Annual Vendor Fair where we supported community members with small businesses. There were so many innovative and creative businesses, it was easy to support them!

We have another opportunity to come together this Sunday at the Chili/Cookie Cook-Off. Sure, we’re going to throw down in the kitchen and show off our culinary skills, but the event is more a fundraiser for The Covenant House. The CH provides shelter and job training for homeless and at-risk kids, kids who have grown too old for the foster care system or who have left destructive home lives or situations.

CFLA’s own Jeremiah Reynolds is spearheading a fundraising campaign for The CH. Tomorrow night he will spend the night on the streets of Hollywood in solidarity with these kids to raise awareness and money. Jeremiah personally wants to experience just one night of their frightening situation. And we want to support him.

This Sunday, Nov 24 from 2-4pm, let’s break bread together, show off a little in the kitchen, and support this important organization. You absolutely don’t need to cook to come. We need all the tasters and judges we can get!

WHAT: Chili-Cookie Cook Off – to show off your skills in support of the Covenant House California
WHEN: Sunday, Nov 24, 2-4pm
WHERE: Andy’s Backyard (ask us for the address)
BRING: A big pot of your best chili and/or four dozen of your most killer cookies. Also bring a discerning palate.
COST? $10 suggested donation to enter food and to judge. Money will go toward small cash prizes and to the Covenant House California
