In the spirit of this week’s programing theme: “Team Week”, I want to share a video clip. Here’s the back story…
In the sport of triathlon, Olympic Distance Racing is the standard for the world championships. Two brother’s from England, Alister 29 and Jonathan 24, have stood out as the most dominate duo in the past 8 years.
Older brother Alister was his coach and mentor all through their youth and even dared him into triathlon. Alister, up until 2016, had won the World Championships 5 times and struck gold in 2014 in London. His brother Jonathan was climbing through the ranks. Then, in 2016, both Alister and Jonathan went to the Rio Games and this time it was Jonathan that came away with a gold medal.
Now to the video clip… The date and place is the 2016 ITU World Triathlon Championships in Cozumel Mexico. It’s the final 500m of the 10k run, its 100+ degrees and 100% humidity. Jonathan is in the lead and only has to finish in the top 10 to claim the tittle of World Champion…..then this happens!
