The 80’s

The year was 1982 and I was in my senior year of High school…the beginning of new wave music, big hair, and big egos. I recall how much time and worry I spent on my outward appearance, trying desperately to fit in and look the part.  On the other hand, I was also a runner and found solitude in my training, and could escape the trends and judgments of others.  I guess, that’s still true today…but I can’t quite figure out what makes the “10’s” unique in terms of social trends?  Maybe its’ cool to be on your mobile devices while drinking coffee or dating on the internet?  But what I do know now, what has been a constant for me over the decades…..Training.  I can always find myself and know who I am, whenever I break a sweat.

So, to that point, I’m gonna celebrate the 80’s again this Friday at the CFLA open workout and break a sweat!
