The mindset of a winner
Having trained lots of affiliates and spoken to many more I’m often asked about “variety” of programs offered within one box… not CrossFit variety but more with regards to being able to offer martial arts, yoga or something else like items on a menu. My response of “stick with what you can be great at” is almost always met with “but I feel there’s an opportunity with (fill in the blank).” Yes. There are a lot of things you can be good at… lots to offer… and lots to distract you from becoming the best in your community at elite fitness. I readily acknowledge that martial arts, parkour, and yoga are vital to functional training but offering them as separate programs under your CrossFit umbrella is diffusing your message. Rather than shifting your focus and trying to go “wide” with your program offerings (believe me, doing CrossFit programming correctly is broad enough) go deep, challenge yourself to drill deeper as a Coach. Doing this will help you to become the best, a winner, as opposed to an “also ran.”
The following video of Seth Godin talks about being the best at what you do.
So what are your thoughts?
