1:00 on, 2:00 offI went into batting cages yesterday for the first time in about 20 years. I thought I’d take it nice and easy – medium speed baseball pitch. For 2 tokens, I got 15 pitches. I hit ONE. The very last one. So I went out and converted another couple bucks to tokens, happily inserting them into the machine, knowing I’d get more hits the next go round…fully expecting that the first 15 swings were just my warm up – and that since I’m pretty much on top of my game, I’d bring it to bear on the next go round. Sure. You know what I did? Hit ZERO. Zilch. Nada. That was it – I was done. A very lousy 1 for 30.

I was thinking about it later… and you know as much as I’ve done in my life, as much as people who are 45 have done in their lives, you’re never done. There’s always something different, new, more, or better. Always something new to try or skill to learn. It’s one of the things that I think makes life so much fun – you’ve got the chance pretty much every day to be a beginner at something. The question is, do you have the courage to take it?

Do I dare ask for captions?
