What Do You Really Want?

At the start of every new year there’s a lot of goal-setting shenanigans that go on. For some reason the beginning of the year feels like a time to announce things you’re going to do and we apply greater importance to both this time and these pronouncements. The truth is the importance of your resolutions has nothing to do with the time of year or whether or not you call them “resolutions.” Saying what you’re going to do only has as much weight to it as you give it, no matter the time of year or how much noise you make about it.

So, what do you really want?

Please note, I didn’t ask, “What should you want?” or “What does your spouse want you to want?” I said, “What do you really want?”

Written another way, that reads, “What do YOU REALLY want?”

No change will happen unless you want it to happen. And no change will happen that isn’t wanted by you, yourself, of your own invention. So think on it before making more resolutions. What does your gut say? What would you have a hard time saying out loud? What do you picture that makes you smile and a little giddy? What do you really want this year and do you want to make it happen?
