When’s the last time you went to your gym and actually bonded with someone that you didn’t know prior to walking in the front door? If you’ve been going to gyms for a long time like I have, it sounds sort of crazy that you would actually meet someone, learn their name and actually walk away having formed some sort of connection. And I’m NOT talking about the sort of connection people get when going to Sports Club LA – where most join solely for social networking.

One of the things I love about CrossFit – whether at Petranek Fitness or anywhere else in the country, is the bond that is formed between people that do the crazy stuff that we do. It’s a fairly regular occurrence at our gym to meet someone, talk a little bit, do a workout together during a class, and immediately share a connection – sort of the way people do when they’ve found out they attended the same college. It’s cool – I’m connected that way to people all over the country – many of whose names I hardly know, all because we CrossFit.

Today’s Workout
Front Squats:
10-8-6-4-2-2-1-1-1 reps
– take as much rest between sets as you need
– Idea is to find your 1 RM (rep max). This is the weight at which one rep is possible, and a second is not.
